When Graham and Ann decided to move from Whangarei to Hawkes Bay to be closer to family, they wanted to build a modern, ‘lock up and leave’ low-maintenance home. They were fortunate enough to find a section just around the corner from their daughter. And, after researching different home builders, the Dawsons decided to go with ReadyBuilt by Lockwood as they wanted a company with good integrity and a good reputation.
After visiting the Rotorua show village, they settled on the Lifestyler design, a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home that now sits perfectly on their landscaped site. The Dawsons worked with the ReadyBuilt team to make the Lifestyler their own. “We upgraded quite a few things, and added a door from the kitchen, which was a great decision.” The Dawsons embraced the timber interiors and opted for hard flooring throughout the home. The fit-out is light and airy, with a white kitchen and subtle engineered stone splashback. A self-designed and assembled open bookshelf creates a beautiful feature along the lounge wall while providing storage and space to display books and special items.
The Dawsons engaged a landscape architect to design the decks, fencing, and placement of the house, spa and shed. “We would recommend this investment to anyone”, they commented, and it gave them the chance to plan and engage local trades for the onsite work required once the home was delivered. Once their home was on site, they completed the planned landscaping and added a Stratco roof which runs along the length of the recess in the Lifestyler plan. They are especially pleased with this extension to their living space and spend a lot of time there in the summer.
The Dawsons have received plenty of compliments from family and friends on the home and how it feels so spacious. Overall, they are thrilled with their new home and the decision to build with Lockwood ReadyBuilt. They have a beautiful, low-maintenance and functional home that provides them with the perfect balance of indoor and outdoor living space. The Dawsons state, “It’s the easiest living home we’ve ever had.”
